This past weekend we attended the Ontario Beekeeping Association and the Lanark County Beekeepers Association summer field day and picnic. Over a hundred people attended to participate in the field sessions and the live Queen Bee Auction. Funds from the auction and sale of OBA promotional items went to support both organizations. The day started overcast but by midday the sun had warmed up the location allowing everyone to chat and share their problems over lunch. Some appropriate questions were raised regarding the Provincial Governments continued acceptance of dangerous pesticides in use and the funding of research projects into bee diseases by some pesticide companies.(?)
Many thanks to Paul Lacelle of Propolis for hosting the event and to the experts at the Technology Transfer Program and OBA Provincial Apiarists.
