Another late swarming season

One of our productive hives swarmed this week. We thought we had everything covered this year but this one got away. They assembled in a pine tree 120+ feet close to the top. Too high for anyone, young or old to get to. Two hours later they took a beeline to their new location, heading in a westerly direction, somewhere cosy and …

They are doing what they naturally want/need to do. The urge is unstoppable. Although we were lucky enough to take off some honey before they left its sad to see them leave so late in the year. Their chances of building up supplies before the onset of a cold winter are slim. The leaves are already starting to change colour in our area. Good luck to them.
