As usual for us at this time of year, we steal a little honey. We have found that it keeps the hives active, or I should say keeps the bees busy working. In our situation we find that swarming can occur late in the season for our hives. The old theory that swarms do not occur as the season progresses we have found to be untrue. We have even had swarms in late August, with a new queen! So with over 90 lbs taken and ready for sale we look forward to the rest of the year. The summer solstice is already behind us and activity within the hive will be shifting. We have another three honey supers that are nearly capped so if anyone is wanting to purchase some new 2016 honey, no is the time.
